Accepted Submissions
Canopy publishes original and accessible scholarship that advances understanding across the social sciences and related humanities fields. We welcome empirical research, theoretical or conceptual essays, literature reviews, policy analyses, case studies, creative research writing, and capstone or thesis projects.
Submissions may address established or emerging areas of Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Education, and related disciplines. Interdisciplinary work connecting the social sciences and humanities is especially encouraged.
Eligibility
Authors and editors must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the following criteria:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university;
- Be a recent graduate or alumnus of a degree-granting institution; or
- Be an early-career professional working in a field related to the social sciences.
Submission Requirements
Length: Research papers should contain between 10 and 20 pages of main text. References, appendices, images, tables, graphs, and data visualizations do not count toward this limit. Longer manuscripts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Components: Each submission must include:
- A cover page containing the title, author name, institutional affiliation, and contact information;
- An abstract of 150–250 words;
- Five keywords;
- The complete manuscript; and
- A reference list using APA citation format.
Format: Manuscripts must use 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, one-inch margins, and page numbers. Submissions must be written in English and uploaded as a PDF.
Submissions addressing cultural or international topics should clearly define specialized concepts and provide translations for terms or phrases in languages other than English, to make the work accessible to a broad readership.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for correction before editorial review.
Multiple Submissions: Authors may submit more than one manuscript, but only one manuscript by the same author may be accepted during a publication cycle.

Publication Conflicts: Canopy accepts only original and exclusive submissions. Authors should disclose any potential publication conflict involving material previously circulated as a thesis chapter, conference paper, working paper, or informal manuscript. The editorial team will determine eligibility based on the circumstances.
